News sources reported that the driver of a vehicle that crashed on Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton at Las Pulgas Road died Thursday.
According to witnesses and the California Highway Patrol, the driver was traveling southbound at unknown speeds in a gray Kia when it veered out of control and overturned. The vehicle flipped around 6 times before coming to rest.
California Highway Patrol Officers received the dispatch call around 4pm and immediately responded to the scene. The driver was transported to a local hospital, but CHP officials were unclear as to whether they died at the scene or at the hospital.
The CHP is investigating what may have caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. No other vehicles were involved with this accident and no other injuries have been reported.
The accident forced the closure of two southbound lanes of Interstate 5 for several hours while the investigation took place and the road was cleared.
