One motorist lost his life in a major auto accident on Highway 16 involving a big rig truck. According to news reports, a woman driving a big rig eastbound on Highway 16 allowed her truck to cross the center median, violently colliding head-on with a Ford F-250 pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the truck crash scene by emergency services. The passenger in the truck, a 22-year-old man was airlifted by paramedics to UC Davis Medical Center where he received emergency medical attention.
The driver of the big rig truck was injured in the accident and rushed to Kaiser Medical Center in Vacaville where her wounds were treated. The CHP is investigating the deadly truck collision to determine what caused the accident and who was at fault. The freeway was temporarily closed to allow first responders to perform their duties and for CalTrans clean-up crews to clear the crash debris from the roadway.
