A semi-truck veered off the 210 Freeway in Lake View Terrace early on Tuesday morning. The crash reportedly involved a 16-year-old in Lake View Terrace. The truck, carrying whip cream and sour cream, was supposed to be driven by the teen’s father, but he let his son take over so he could take a nap. The 16-year-old fell asleep behind the wheel, losing control of the truck and slamming it into the edge of a mobile home park by Osborne Street. No one was hurt in the crash.
According to news reports, the son and father hid out in bushes near the scene of the crash. Firefighters eventually located them and investigators questions them immediately. He admitted to driving the car illegally. The unsafe driver will likely face charges for being behind the wheel without a license. The California Highway Patrol issued a statement to drivers on the road warning them to stay away from the area. They also let drivers know there may be traffic delays due to the collision. Two eastbound lanes on the 210 Freeway were shut-down while crews worked to clear the scene and remove the crashed big rig.
As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, I am glad no one was more seriously injured.
