Multiple news articles have been stating recently that certain trailers are being recalled over possible fire hazards.
According to the official recall announcement issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Forest River has decided to issue this recall alert over discoveries certain trailers had been equipped with liquid propane gas lines that could have been fastened along the very bottom of the vehicle’s frame rail. In case the trailer hits a bump on the road, the “U” bolt on the axle could suddenly pinch the gas line and a gas leakage could occur, which ultimately could lead to a fire.
If this gas exposure occurs and it results in a fire, an accident could also happen and the trailer occupants could be seriously injured.
According to the official recall announcement, the company along the federal agency are urging owners of all 2012 and 2013 Surveyor Travel Trailers to contact an authorized dealer to have their vehicles inspected immediately. Trained mechanics will have the LP lines in these recalled vehicles re-routed for free.
The official recall announcement has stated that this issue affects over 400 units of these vehicles.
If you own one of these trailers or know somebody who does, do not hesitate and contact the manufacturer at once.
Hopefully, this recall campaign is successful and all recalled vehicles are recalled before anybody is seriously injured in an accident.
