A big rig closed part of a major Los Angeles-area thoroughfare Friday morning after jackknifing and spilling its load on the roadway, report news sources.
The 18-wheeler was hauling blacktop on Sepulveda Boulevard near Steven Drive in Encino when around 4:15 a.m. the tractor-trailer jackknifed and overturned. Blacktop oozed out on to the roadway forcing the closure of some southbound lanes, say police reports.
The driver of the big rig was uninjured in the crash.
Clean up crews reported to the scene, and heavy-lifting equipment was used to haul the tractor-trailer away while southbound traffic was shut down. Northbound lanes remained open after the crash.
I am relieved that the driver of the big rig was uninjured and that no other accidents seem to have been caused by the accident. As a Los Angeles car accident attorney, I am very interested to learn what caused the 18-wheeler to crash.
I am moved to remind motorists to stay alert while on the road so that you can make quick, safe and effective adjustments to changes in traffic conditions.
If you or someone you care about has been injured in an traffic accident, be sure to contact a car accident lawyer to learn what options are available to help you get the support you need while on the road to recovery.
