A major San Diego freeway was blocked on Thursday morning when a semi-truck driver prevented traffic from moving and lied down in the center divider. He then demanded to speak with President Obama. The 41-year-old man from New Jersey blocked all Kearny Mesa lanes on southbound Interstate 805, just south of Balboa Avenue, about 10 miles northwest of downtown around 7:30am. He was arrested by police without resistance, and no charges have been filed yet. “He was not combative,” said CHP spokesperson Art Athans, “but he was very demanding and asked to talk to President Obama.”
According to news reports, the big rig was carrying frozen food. Police performed a bomb search as a precautionary measure. “He didn’t appear to be injured, but does appear to be unstable mentally,” Cocroft said. “He was babbling about wanting to talk to President Obama, so obviously there was some mental instability there.” The big rig was moved by 8am to the right shoulder. As a San Bernardino personal injury lawyer, I’m glad no one was hurt and the man will be taken to County Mental Health for evaluation. If you or a loved one were hurt in an auto accident caused by negligence, discuss your case with a car accident attorney.
