According to news reports, an Anderson woman was seriously injured and her baby killed in a single vehicle accident when her car collided with a telephone pole Wednesday.
Around 7:55 p.m., the 22-year-old woman’s car went off the road when she swerved to avoid a deer that was on the road according to California Highway Patrol reports.
The report also states that the car slammed into the telephone pole after the driver overcorrected which caused the car to cross both lanes of the road. The vehicle then spun sideways.
The woman was listed in critical condition at a local hospital Thursday morning.
Also riding in the car was the woman’s 5-month-old baby who was killed in the crash. According to a CHP spokesman, the child was sitting in a rear-facing child seat in the rear driver-side seat of the car.
Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
