“Kroger Value Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips” are being recalled for potentially containing undeclared milk protein, which may cause an allergic reaction in some individuals. Barry Callebaut USA LLC instigated the recall voluntarily. The following UPC Code is affected by the recall: 11110-86603, along with the following “Best By” Dates:
- November 20, 2012

- December 3, 2012
- December 4, 2012
According to news reports, these dates are located on the back of the bag in black lettering. The potential for allergies or other serious health risks is high considering that milk protein, if consumed, may cause a severe allergic reaction.
