News sources are reporting that a bicyclist suffered major injuries after colliding with a car Wednesday in San Jose.
The 51-year-old man was hurt when he collided with a Volvo sedan. According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 4:10 p.m. near the end of Wednesday’s stage of the Amgen Tour of California. The rider was a spectator, not a participant in the race.
The cyclist was taken to a San Jose hospital where, according to hospital staff, he was treated and released.
The Tour of California, which began Monday in Nevada City, spans more than 800 miles across California. Wednesday’s leg of the race marked the midpoint of the competition. The race wraps up Sunday in Thousand Oaks.
As a San Jose personal injury attorney, I wish the cyclist a rapid recovery from his injuries.
As the weather becomes warmer and more conducive to cycling, I encourage all riders to practice safe riding habits like wearing helmets and riding in bike lanes when ever possible. I also impress upon motorists the importance of sharing the road with cyclists.
If you or someone you care about has been injured in a bicycle or other accident, be sure to contact a personal injury lawyer to help you get the support you deserve during your recovery.
