After colliding into a divider on Interstate 880 in Oakland, a driver was killed running across the highway. The man ran across the freeway after the crash, and as he was returning to his vehicle he was struck. He was with a female passenger when his 1995 Honda hit the divider just north of Hegenberger Road exit at 4:40am. The California Highway Patrol say there was a physical altercation inside the car which may have caused it to lose control and hit the center divider. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. The female passenger may have broken her leg.
According to news reports, officials are still trying to find the woman who left the vehicle before police arrived. Two or three other crashes may have been related to the accident, because they may have hit each other due to slowing down for the crash or they may have ran over the victim. If anyone has information about the crash, they are being asked by the CHP to report information to the tip line at 1-800-835-5246. “A lot of times people may hit a bump or run over something in the road, not realizing it is a human being,” a CHP officer said. As an Oakland personal injury lawyer, I hope the woman involved in the crash is found and investigators discover why the other collisions occurred. If you or a loved one were hurt in a car accident, you may consult with a car accident lawyer Oakland regarding your case.
