A motorist died Wednesday morning when the car he was driving collided head-on with a big rig and burst into flames southeast of Fresno, report media sources.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at around 9:30 a.m. the man was driving a Dodge Intrepid and approaching the intersection between Fowler and Central avenues in Fresno County where a big rig had stopped at the four-way stop. Authorities say the sedan was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed on Central, failed to yield at the stop sign and collided head-on into the front of the semi, causing the car to burst into flames.
The driver of the Dodge died at the scene of the crash. The big rig driver was taken to a Fresno medical center for treatment of minor injuries, and is expected to be okay.
Authorities shut down the intersection for approximately four hours while investigators looked into the collision.

Being a car accident lawyer, I am familiar with the types of injuries a motorist can suffer in a traffic accident, and I wish the big rig driver a rapid and full recovery.
