A driver went off the 241 toll road, down an embankment, slamming through 30 feet of chain link fence and came to a stop 500 feet from the road, said the California Highway Patrol. Officials brought the injured man to Mission Hospital via helicopter, and the southbound lanes on 241 were shut-down from 4:30-5 while crews worked to clear the accident scene. Northbound lanes were closed until 6:30pm. It was no easy feat to remove the man from his car, as authorities had to cut the vehicle to gain access to him. Investigators are looking into what caused the accident, and the car’s make and model are unknown at this time as well. “All we know is that the vehicle went off the roadway and down the side,” CHP officer Jong said.
According to news reports, there were no other people in the car as it veered off 241 just north of Los Alisos Boulevard.
