A possible drunk driver crashed his car into an Oakland home around 1:30am this morning. Mercury News reported that police officers spotted the motorist driving at high speeds through city streets and began to pursue the vehicle. The driver lost control of his car when turning a corner, crashing the auto directly into a home.
California Highway Patrol officers issued a statement declaring their suspicion that alcohol was a contributing factor in the auto accident. The driver was arrested by police for reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. Authorities may also charge the driver with destruction of private property and reckless endangerment. The driver was taken to the hospital to be treated for possible back and neck injuries.
Speeding and driving while drunk is a dangerous combination and as a personal injury attorney in Los Angeles am pleased that no innocent people were injured in this incident. Drunk drivers are many times more likely to be involved in an auto accident and present a danger to pedestrians and other drivers on the road. If drinking arrange for a designated driver or take a taxi home.
