According to news sources, a woman severely injured in a single-vehicle accident that took place late Tuesday morning in Lake County dead at the hospital after her vehicle veered off the roadway and smashed into a tree.
The 70-year-old woman was driving a Pontiac sedan on Highway 29 traveling southbound when the accident took place, the California Highway Patrol said. The incident started when the woman’s vehicle veered off the roadway for unknown reasons and eventually clipped a tree before crashing into another tree.
A crowd of about a dozen people stopped to help extricate the woman from the locked vehicle as the grass below it began to catch fire.
The CHP is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
