According to the news and the official reports from the California Highway Patrol, an accident on the 10 Freeway between two big rigs claimed the life of one of the truck drivers. The reports also showed that a huge fuel spill kept authorities on edge.
The accident happened when two trucks collided sometime after 2 p.m. at Fairplex Drive on the eastbound 10. The Los Angeles County Fire Inspector claimed that one of the rigs was absolutely engulfed by fire and that an estimated 1,000 gallons of fuel spilled onto the entire roadway.
The official reports from the CHP stated that crews had to work on the three blocked right lanes with some difficulties since the traffic had built up immensely prior to the arrival of the authorities.
A lengthy Sig Alert had to be issued after CHP blocked the Fairplex off-ramp since the fire and smoke were allegedly going up the ramp. I offer my sincere condolences to the family of the man who tragically lost his life as the result of the collision on Thursday.
As a personal injury lawyer I urge all drivers of commercial trucks and buses to remember of the dangers and threats they may pose to the traffic in the case of an accident. Stay specially attentive to other large vehicles and general traffic conditions.
