The 101 Freeway has been completely shut down by the CHP due to the monstrous explosion of a truck hauling gasoline. According to news sources, the big-rig truck overturned and caught fire near the transition ramp to Interstate 80 around 5am. Apparently the blaze completely engulfed the cab portion of the big rig, leaving the burnt out frame of the wreck. Three vehicles were involved in the crash.
Paramedics rushed the truck’s driver and a woman from another vehicle to a local hospital to receive treatment for non life-threatening injuries. The overturned big-rig caused a great deal of property damage when it took out a large portion of guardrail that was knocked loose and fell onto city streets below. Traffic in the city is backed up for miles and authorities are unsure when the freeway will be reopened.
As a San Francisco car accident lawyer I urge motorists to give large vehicles plenty of space on the highway and always take extra care when in the proximity of a big rig truck. If you or a loved one were hurt in a truck crash, speak to a personal injury lawyer to determine the best way to resolve your accident injury claim.
