Hands-free texting while driving will soon be legal in California, according to many news articles.
Gov. Jerry Brown signed a new bill that will allow drivers to send and receive text messages, as long as it’s hands-free. The author of the bill says that this allows drivers to stay in touch with friends and family while on the road, and better utilize new technology. Total fines for violating the hands-free law are $160 for the first offense and $280 for subsequent offenses. The law goes into effect January 1.
