A two-car head-on crash Monday night in South Whittier left seven people hospitalized for moderate injuries. One of the vehicles involved in the crash was carrying five children and two adults. The accident happened at the intersection of Leffingwell and Meyer around 7:30pm, said a California Highway Patrol officer. All five children along with the two adults were brought to three different local hospitals for treatment of moderate injuries, said a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher. “All the injuries were reported as lacerations,” said a CHP officer. Nobody involved in the crash sustained a broken bone. The children, ages 4, 5, two 8-year-olds, and 11, are currently being treated.
According to news reports, investigators have not yet determined the cause of the crash, which remains under investigation.
