A crash on Wednesday on state Highway 12 left a driver in critical condition. The 70-year-old man driving a 2001 Hyundai on Highway 29 tried passing the car in front of him, but while passing he collided head-on with a 2005 full-size Ford pickup driven by an 82-year-old from Santa Rosa. The Ford flipped and came to a rest in a ditch. Neither driver had passengers, and they were extracted from their cars by emergency crews.
According to news reports, the Hyundai driver tried passing while in a passing zone, however the collision occurred in a no-passing zone at about 60mph between Dunbar Road and Nuns Canyon Road just after a hailstorm. The driver experienced minor to moderate injuries. Both lanes were closed due to the crash between Dunbar Road and Sylvia Drive. Three hours after, Highway 12 reopened. As a personal injury lawyer Los Angeles, I’m glad no one was hurt more seriously, and I hope they heal quickly from their injuries.
