Local news agencies have revealed that a man was injured in a hit-and-run accident.
According to the articles mentioning this accident, the bicyclist was riding his bike when a Dodge pickup truck hit him at the intersection of East Railroad Avenue and Petaluma Hill Road around 8:30 a.m. just outside Cotati.
The troopers from the California Highway Patrol who responded to the scene of the accident claim that the rider was rushed to the hospital sustaining serious injuries and that the suspect hit-and-run driver was later arrested at his residence. According to the official statement issued by the authorities, the driver chose to leave the scene of the crash because he believed that the bicyclist had not been injured. As of this moment, the bicyclist is still under treatment at the Hospital.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating this tragic accident and should have more details regarding the factors that may have caused it available soon. Hopefully, the rider who was severely injured in this accident is being able to experience a full and quick recovery from his wounds. In my line of work, I’ve seen bicycle accidents that turned out fatal and I know how difficult the period of recovery can be.
