An accident that happened last Monday claimed the life of a 19-year-old woman from Watsonville, according to several news agencies. The accident, according to the release issued by the California Highway Patrol, happened when the 19-year-old motorist lost control of her vehicle for unknown reasons. She was traveling on Highway 156 when she drifted off the road, realized the mistake and attempted to bring the vehicle back to its lane. The car ended up over-correcting and crossing into oncoming traffic.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the motorist tried to get back into her lane once again but it was too late, her vehicle was t-boned by an oncoming SUV. The 19-year-old was unfortunately declared dead at the scene.
The news went on to say that the accident that happened near Union Road caused the traffic on Highway 156 to gridlock since officials from the CHP closed down the road to allow space for emergency crews to aid the victims.
The authorities claimed that the SUV driver was transported to the hospital sustaining serious injuries. No other details regarding the causes behind this accident were revealed.
