According to news sources, a California Highway Patrol officer pulled over a man for not wearing his seat belt. The man had been wanted for a felony hit-and-run accident that took place only an hour earlier. Authorities arrested the man and booked him into a county jail.
The man had crashed a Toyota Avalon into a Ford pickup truck on Interstate 80 just one hour before authorities pulled him over for not wearing his seat belt. The driver of the Ford sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment, the CHP said.
Witnesses at the scene report that the man sped off from the scene of the crash in a gold Toyota at speeds of about 100 mph.
Upon pulling the man over, the CHP officer noticed the damage sustained to the front of the vehicle and found a loaded pistol on the suspects waistband.
Authorities learned about the felony hit and run with the man matching the suspects description as well as the matching license plates.
The man was arrested and booked into Solano County Jail.
