According to a series of news articles recently published nationwide, Kia has issued a recall alert for multiple units of the 2009 Borrego model over possibly defective pedal mounts.
The official recall announcement issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has revealed that the mounts present in the vehicle’s non-adjustable brake pedals were manufactured with fiberglass, which could lead to a fracture in the event of a minor collision. In case the pedal breaks off unexpectedly, the vehicle could roll away and a second accident could occur.
The company has revealed that since the vehicle cannot be immobilized in case these pedals break happen to come detached, a recall announcement was deemed necessary.
To keep the vehicle from rolling away and being damaged in a second impact, the company has urged all recalled vehicle owners to contact an authorized dealer to schedule a visit. A replacement pedal brake component should be provided and installed in all recalled vehicles for free.
According to the company, there are 21,912 vehicles that are affected by this issue and should be fully repaired promptly. Stay safe and keep your family away from harm’s way by responding to this recall announcement as soon as possible. Your life depends on this.
Whenever you learn about a recall announcement that is related to a product or vehicle you own, stop using the recalled item and contact the manufacturer at once. Delaying to respond to a recall alert could pose serious risk to you and your loved ones.
