Kia Recalls SUVs for Faulty Drive Shaft

More than 12,000 Kia Motors SUV’s are being recalled to address a possible issue with the , according to news reports.

Approximately 12,600 2011 model year Kia Sorentos are included in the recall.

“According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall notice, two-wheel-drive Kia Sorentos with 2.4-liter engines and automatic transmissions may have drive shafts that are improperly aligned. This production flaw may produce a “whirring noise” during driving. If left uncorrected, the transmission could become damaged and the SUV could eventually lose power, which could cause a collision,” according to news reports.

The recalled vehicles were manufactured through May 2010, according to news reports.

As a Los Angeles car accident attorney, I urge drivers with this vehicle to get it fixed as soon as possible to avoid any future car accidents or personal injuries. Consumers who have the recalled vehicles will get notifications from Kia this month. For more information, consumers can call Kia (800-333-4542) or visit the NHTSA website: www.SaferCar.gov.

If you or a loved one has been injured by a recalled product, contact a personal injury lawyer in Los Angeles.
