A motorist fled from police on Monday during a chase that lasted one hour on Southland freeways. The chase finally came to an end at 5:15 on a San Dimas surface street, after officers stun gunned, tackled and arrested the suspect, who stopped his car on West Covina Boulevard. He fled police for another 100 yards before being arrested. The chase began when an officer tried stopping the suspect on southbound Golden State (5) Freeway near the Grapevine around 2pm. The suspect immediately exited the freeway at Valencia then entered the freeway again and drove south to the Hollywood (170) Freeway.
The California Highway Patrol ended the pursuit because they identified the driver and did not want to endanger anyone else. The driver went from the 605 to eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway and exited in West Covina. He was continually followed by television station helicopters, then motorcycle police. As of 4pm, the driver entered San Bernardino. He was arrested wearing a bathrobe when he was arrested in a parking lo. As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, I’m glad no one was hurt more seriously during this dangerous police pursuit. If you or a loved one were harmed by a reckless driver, discuss your case with a car accident attorney.
