A 17-year-old woman was involved in a car wreck early Saturday morning after reportedly stealing a pick-up truck. The 30-year-old man whose truck she stole pursued her vehicle after she left his home and is now being charged with four felonies, including gross vehicular manslaughter, for which he plead not-guilty. Prior to the crash, the 17-year-old and two other teenagers were drinking alcohol at the suspect’s home on Saturday night. Sunday morning, he awoke to find his vehicle stolen. He drove his other vehicle and chased the teen, trying to pull her over while reaching speeds of 90mph. He passed her vehicle unsafely, hitting the front of the pickup truck she was driving.
According to news reports, the pickup was sent off the roadway and overturned. The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. Along with gross vehicular manslaughter, the suspect plead not-guilty to a hit-and-run, making a false report, and driving on a suspended license.
