According to news sources, a man reportedly fell asleep early Sunday behind the wheels of a big rig truck traveling on Highway 101 near Menlo Park when the vehicle crashed into the center divider.
The driver of the big rig was traveling with his son at the time when the accident took place. The driver seemingly fell asleep while driving, causing the vehicle to veer towards the right shoulder of the road, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The driver then reportedly over compensated by attempting to correct himself by steering to the left. He lost control of the vehicle and caused it to overturn before sliding about 100 yards and finally coming to rest on top of the center divide.
Both occupants of the vehicle escaped without injury and there were no other reports of collisions, the CHP officer said.
As a car accident attorney San Bernardino, I am glad that there were no reports of injuries in this terrible accident. I am familiar with accidents of this nature and I advise you never to leave the scene of an accident. If you veer off the side of the road do not panic and overcompensate your steering. If you or a loved one were hurt in an auto crash, speak with a personal injury lawyer to discuss your legal options.
