Media sources reported that a 78-year-old man was killed and a 10-year-old girl injured in a multi-vehicle accident in Menlo Park Tuesday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a green 1994 Pontiac sedan westbound at high speeds on the on-ramp to US Highway 101 from Marsh Road at about 9:40pm when he lost control of the vehicle. The Pontiac spun out of control into southbound traffic and collided with multiple vehicles before crashing into the center divider and coming to rest. CHP officers say that several drivers swerved to avoid the vehicle, but were unable to do so.
The man sustained serious internal injuries in the accident and later suffered cardiac arrest and died from his injuries. A 10-year-old female passenger in a 2005 GMC pickup truck sustained minor injuries during the accident.
CHP officials are unclear as to the exact cause of the accident and continuing to investigate. No one else was injured in this crash.
As a car accident attorney in San Francisco, I’ve seen the devastating aftermath of an accident like this. My heart goes out to the friends and family of this man and I wish the girl a quick recovery from this tragic accident. If you or a loved one has been injured in a car accident that was the direct result of another driver’s negligence, it may be in your best interest to speak with a personal injury lawyer.
