According to multiple news agencies from all over the country, Chicago Century Furniture Corp. has decided to issue a recall over the company’s failure to keep up with federal mattress flammability standards.
The official recall announcement issued primarily by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has revealed that mattresses sold under the brand name Century Mattresses were manufactured with materials that fail to comply with the mandatory federal open flame standards, which could possibly pose a fire hazard to users. According to the information found in this recall announcement, the recall was deemed necessary after the USCPSC tested the Chicago Century twin, full, queen and king-size mattresses that were sold between January 2008 and October 2010 at Chicago Century Furniture Inc. with the model number “MG006”.
Consumers with this recalled item in their possession are advised they must stop using it immediately. The firm must be contacted promptly so affected consumers can receive a replacement item for free.
The federal agency has revealed that these products were manufactured in China and have been sold for less than $360. I encourage you to check your mattress for the fabric label bearing the words “Century Spring Mattress” and the model number.
Act fast. Never wait before you’re hurt to react and ensure your family’s safety by responding to recall alerts related to products you own as soon as you can.
