According to news sources, a Valley Springs man died in an accident Tuesday when a vehicle on the roadway crossed the double yellow lines and collided with his motorcycle head-on.
The Jeep Cherokee involved in the crash was being driven by a 47-year-old woman traveling westbound on Highway 26, the California Highway Patrol said. The woman was reportedly distracted and allowed the vehicle to drift across the double yellow lines. Upon noticing, the woman maneuvered the vehicle to the right and then swerved again to the left. The incident caused the vehicle to slam into the motorcyclist traveling in the eastbound lanes.
The man was killed as a result of the collision. His passenger, an 83-year-old, was seriously injured in the crash. The driver of the Jeep also sustained minor injuries.
There were no other reported injuries or collisions.
