According to a series of local news agencies, a 50-year-old driver was declared dead after driving his motorhome into the side of a restaurant building in Lake Elsinore.
The accident memo released by the California Highway Patrol has revealed that the motorist was traveling on the northbound lanes of the Grande Avenue at about 9:50 a.m. when the motorist apparently lost control of his vehicle. The motorhome drove off the road at about 55 miles per hour after making an abrupt turn and driving into the wall of a local restaurant.
According to one account, fire fighters had to maintain the structure of the building stabilized in order to pursue the extrication of the victim.
California Highway Patrol troopers who responded to the scene claim that witnesses say the driver seemed to have driven the vehicle intentionally into the building. At this moment, investigators are looking into this case and should have more details regarding this accident in the near future.
No other injuries were reported in association with this case.
At this moment, my heart and thoughts go out to the victim’s family. I’ve seen tragic crashes in the past and I know of the difficulties certain family members face while attempting to cope with the loss of a loved one. Hopefully, the California Highway Patrol is working hard to discover exactly what caused this crash so similar accidents can be avoided.
