Motorist Dies After Rear-Ending Big Rig

According to news sources, a man was killed in an accident that took place Wednesday morning when the vehicle he was driving rear-ended a big rig truck on the roadway.

The 52-year-old man was driving a 2004 Honda Accord on Willows Road east of Alpine when the accident took place, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The man reportedly crashed into the rear of a 1998 Freightliner semi-truck fully loaded with furniture and traveling east headed towards Arizona. The driver of the big rig was reportedly attempting to regain speed, the CHP officer said.

The driver of the Honda was reportedly killed on impact and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The 35-year-old driver of the big rig truck was reportedly uninjured in the accident.

The identity of the man has yet to be released, pending notification of his next of kin.
