A 21-year-old woman from Coachella veered off the side of Highway 86S early Wednesday morning. She was driving a 2001 Mitsubishi at high speeds when she crashed into a concrete pillar close to the Avenue 58 crossing, said the California Highway Patrol. She later succumbed to her injuries. A California Highway Patrol officer stated another driver tried helping her get out of the vehicle after the crash. Firefighters were able to pull her out successfully and she was brought to JFK Memorial Hospital and treated. Police say drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the wreck, and the driver was wearing her seat belt when the crash happened.
According to news reports, the woman’s identity has not been released by the Coroner’s office as of Wednesday morning. As a San Jose personal injury lawyer, my thoughts are with her family and I hope they discover the cause of the crash soon.
