Motorists Crashes After Falling Asleep While Driving

The driver of a 1996 Toyota Corolla sustained severe injuries after crashing into a tree. According to news reports, the man feel asleep behind the wheel while traveling southbound on Highway 99 at Avenue 328 between Goshen and Traver. He told police that he fell asleep and veered right onto a dirt shoulder and hit a tree at about 8 p.m.

Authorities determined that alcohol did not play a role in causing the car accident. The crash victim suffered a broken arm and lacerations to his hand. Both of his passengers sustained accident injuries as well. Paramedics rushed the occupants of the vehicle to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for their injuries.

As a personal injury lawyer in Fresno I urge all motorists to pull off the road and rest if feeling fatigued. Driving while tired can be as dangerous as driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. If you or a loved one sustained car accident injuries due to the negligence of another driver, speak with a qualified personal injury lawyer to determine whether or not you have a valid injury claim.
