News outlets reported that a 21-year-old Novato man was arrested after allegedly causing a high-speed crash on Highway 101 in San Rafael Monday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a 1995 Acura Integra northbound in the fast lane at speeds around 85mph as he approached the top of Cal Park Hill between Larkspur/Greenbrae and San Rafael around 10am when he lost control of the vehicle. The Acura swerved and traversed several lanes of traffic before striking a concrete wall on the east side of the roadway. The vehicle then overturned and slid on it’s rooftop for approximately 150 feet before coming to rest across two northbound traffic lanes.
The man was transported to Kaiser Hospital in Terra Linda for the treatment of minor injuries he sustained in the crash. The highway remained blocked for a little over an hour while the wreck was cleared and an investigation was conducted.
The man is facing charges of reckless driving, modified emissions on his vehicle and operating a vehicle without insurance.
