Media sources stated that a 58-year-old woman was hit and killed while jogging on Clark Road near Steamboat Rock Road Tuesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 47-year-old driver from Oroville was southbound on Clark Road driving 55mph when she drifted onto the right shoulder and struck the jogger. CHP officials pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
Another jogger, and distant neighbor of the victim, witnessed the accident, but mistook the loud thud she heard for tire failure.
“It just sounded like a flat tire so I kept walking,” she said.
The CHP declared the scene an accident and made no arrest after the collision. The CHP is withholding the name of the victim pending notification of her next of kin.
The witness claims that in her 40 year living in Butte Valley, she’s seen numerous accidents, with several fatalities, along the arrow-straight stretch of road.
In my years as an Oakland car accident attorney, I’ve seen the devastating effects of an accident like this, not only on the victim, but those left behind. My heart goes out to the friends and family of this woman in the wake of this tragedy. If you or someone you love have been injured in an accident that you feel was caused by the negligence of someone else, it may be in your best interests to speak with a personal injury lawyer in your area.
