According to news sources, a pedestrian walking on a roadway with no lights near Camarillo was struck early Monday morning when a vehicle struck him.
The 73-year-old male pedestrian was reportedly walking in the dark roadway wearing dark-clothing when he was struck by the oncoming vehicle, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the man reportedly attempted to avoid collision by swerving to the left but was unsuccessful and the right front end of the car hit the man, the CHP officer said.
The driver and a witness both stayed at the scene reportedly attempting to help the man until the CHP arrived. The CHP is currently investigating the cause of the accident however the incident was ruled as an accident, the CHP officer said.
