A pedestrian on the 605 Freeway was hit just after 6:20pm near Live Oak Avenue in the southbound lanes. An elderly man was walking across the freeway when the crash happened, and a driver hit him while he was in the middle of the lanes. One witness saw him walking there, but no one was sure why he was walking on the freeway. All four lanes of the southbound freeway were closed for around an hour following the accident, said the California Highway Patrol. Around an hour after the collision, the two right lanes were reopened but the two left lanes remained closed throughout Thursday evening while officials investigated the scene of the crash.
According to news reports, no further information is available on the collision which resulted in the pedestrian’s death. As a Long Beach personal injury lawyer, my thoughts are with the family of the pedestrian. If you or a loved one are injured due to negligence, a car accident attorney Long Beach can evaluate your claim.
