It’s been extensively stated that the New Jersey Senate has successfully passed a bill increasing the penalty for texting while driving. According to the news, the fine will double from where it is now, starting at $200 for the first infraction and then $400 for the second and $600 for the third. After that, points will be placed on the driver’s license. If enough points become accumulated, the driver will have his or her license suspended.
Hopefully, this will decrease the number of crashes related to distracted driving in the state.
