Reche Canyon, a frequented shortcut between Moreno Valley and towns north of San Bernardino County (including Colton, Grand Terrace, and Loma Linda), was the scene of a disastrous collision Wednesday evening. Just prior to 7pm, a collision between three vehicles on Reche Vista Drive near Reche Canyon Road killed an 18-year-old man and injured a 16-year-old and a 55-year-old woman. According to the Soutwest Riverside News Network, the 16-year-old in the crash was critically burned.
California Highway Patrol reported a 1995 Honda Civic crossed over double lines in the middle of the road, driving into oncoming traffic. He hit a 2006 Ford Ranger pickup head-on. The Civic caught fire and the driver was announced dead at the scene, said a Riverside County coroner. A passenger in the Civic left with third-degree burns, and was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton via helicopter.
The 55-year-old woman driving the Ford Ranger was hospitalized for leg and back fractures in Moreno Valley. Several Cal Fire engine and ambulances responded to the crash, stated the Riverside County Cal Fire Captain. As a San Bernardino car accident lawyer, my thoughts go out to the families involved in this horrific car crash and I hope everyone currently being treated heals as quickly as possible.
