A 4-year-old girl died Thursday night after being hit by a truck as she played on her scooter in Sacramento, report media sources.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at approximately 7 p.m., the girl was riding the scooter in the street in front of her home near the intersection of Ashgrove Way and Tallyho Drive. A gray Dodge Ram driven by a neighbor turned on to the dead-end street and struck the child. The driver did not see the girl before the accident.
The girl suffered severe head and torso injuries and was unresponsive when emergency crews reported to the scene. Paramedics were able to resuscitate the child, said a CHP officer. She was transported to a local hospital where she later died.
The accident is under investigation; currently authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a roll in the accident.
I am saddened by the news of this child’s death. As an Oakland personal injury attorney, I have witnessed the anguish of those left behind after a tragic death. Even with my experience , I cannot begin to imagine the grief being experienced by the girl’s family or the impact that this tragedy is having on their community. My heartfelt condolences go out to the girl’s family and community during this difficult time.
