According to multiple local news agencies, a woman was rescued from her burning vehicle after she was involved in a three-vehicle accident that happened near San Rafael last Thursday morning.
The official release issued by the California Highway Patrol has revealed that the 20-year-old woman from San Rafael was traveling on the eastbound lanes of the Point San Pedro Road when her 1999 Dodge Intrepid crashed into the back of a 2004 Porsche Cayenne that was parked on the right shoulder of the road. The troopers who responded to the scene say that the vehicle continued to drive off the side of the road where she struck a fence and trees. As a result of the impact, the Porsche rotated and hit another parked vehicle that was later discovered to be a 1995 Jaguar sedan.
A 22-year-old man who was one of the Dodge occupants climbed out of the crashed vehicle and collapsed on his knees and hands while a second passenger also escaped, ran away from the scene and collapsed before he was able to cross the road. The 20-year-old Dodge driver from San Rafael was trapped in the fiery Dodge until the moment the California Highway Patrol troopers arrived at the scene. Officers put out the flames while firefighters worked to extricate the woman from the burning car.
According to the official report issued by the authorities, the woman was arrested on the suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. The CHP is now investigating this accident and no more details have been disclosed.
Hopefully, similar accidents can be avoided and motorists in California are able to learn from this woman’s mistakes. Any personal injury lawyer can tell you that driving while intoxicated is illegal and deadly. Be safe.
