According to a series of news articles, Daimler Trucks North America has issued a recall announcement recently regarding over 800 units of potentially defective school buses.
The official recall statement primarily published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has revealed that all units of the 2007 through 2011 Saf-T-Liner EF, Saf-T-Liner HDX, Minotour and Saf-T-Liner C2 have been equipped with a defective set of wheelchair lifts that could pose an injury risk to passengers all across the nation.
According to the information found in the news articles mentioning this recall, the Braun made Century-2 and Vista-2 wheelchair lifts present in these buses could experience a misalignment that could cause a wheelchair to fall while the platform is being raised. This issue, according to the federal agency, could pose a threat to a wheelchair occupant and a recall was deemed necessary.
Braun, the wheelchair lift maker will provide fully functional replacements to all recalled Thomas Built buses. Recalled vehicle owners should contact the manufacturer at once to schedule a visit to a Braun dealer to have their school buses repaired.
Hopefully, this recall campaign is successful and all recalled buses are repaired before an incident is reported to the federal agency. Whenever you learn about a recall announcement that is related to a product or vehicle you own, refrain from delaying to respond to the announcement. Ensure your own safety and the safety of those you love by acting quickly.
