The main suspect in Tuesday’s deadly and possibly staged car crash near Lakeside, California has been arrested and denied bail. According to this Associated Press story, the main suspect in the murder was arrested on unrelated charges of statutory rape and molestation of his 17 year old niece who was living with him at the time. The district attorney is expected to issue two further murder charges soon against the suspect for the deaths of his wife and mother in law.
In a prepared statement, Lt. Dennis Brugos of the sheriff’s department said, “The manner of death for both of these ladies is a homicide. We believe that this accident was actually staged.”
An ongoing homicide investigation is under way in regards to the deaths of the woman and her mother in what detectives believe is a staged auto accident. The Honda Accord the woman was driving lost control, veering of the road and landing upside down hundreds of yards away. Accident investigators from the CHP deemed the auto accident a crime scene due to the fact that there were no skid marks located in the area.
Following up on this story that I reported on a few days ago, I feel deep sympathy for those that have been victimized. As a Los Angeles personal injury attorney I am pleased to see that justice is in the process of being served. Concerning staged accidents, if you believe insurance fraud or a staged accident has taken place, report the incident to local law enforcement authorities immediately.
