A chase started early this morning in Pismo Beach, when a police officer tried stopping a 1999 Acura Integra driver close to the intersection of Highway 101 and Spyglass Drive, but the car refused to stop. The drive fled north on the freeway while the police chased him. He then drove onto a detour through San Luis Obispo, a city street, and jumped out of his vehicle. The drive re-entered the freeway as the officer followed, and drove north to Cuesta Grade. The chase came to a stop when he rolled his car while attempting to exit Highway 101 at the Santa Margarita off-ramp.
According to news reports, the driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating. As a Los Angeles personal injury attorney, my thoughts are with the family of the driver in the collision. If you or a loved one are harmed in an auto collision caused by negligent driving, discuss your case with a qualified car accident attorney who can evaluate a potential claim, assess your case and help protect your rights.
