Authorities said that a woman driving an SUV that rolled over and injured 6 children was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to news sources.
The woman was driving a 2002 Toyota Sequoia and reportedly picked up the children from a baby sitter when she apparently lost control of the vehicle and sent it drifting off the road, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The children inside the vehicle were reportedly the woman’s own children, foster children and a niece.
Two of the children sustained major injuries as a result of the accident and are considered to be in critical condition. The remaining children all sustained minor to moderate injuries. They were transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The woman was arrested on suspicions of drinking and driving as she continues to recover from moderate injuries at Antelope Valley Hospital.
The children’s age reportedly ranges from 10 months to 11 years old.
