App Could Help Avoid Freeway Accidents, Deaths
According to news sources, a new app is set to be tested on California highways this summer in the effort of reducing freeway accidents by 40 percent. The team that developed the app at the University of Bologna (Italy) claims that, while it’s only been tested in computer simulations thus far, they’re confident of it’s good results. Marco Roccetti, professor of Internet architecture at the university, said, “Basically, what we are doing is placing cars in peer to peer communication.” (read more)

I-5 Multiple Vehicle Crash Kills 1
News reports indicate that at least one person was killed in a multiple vehicle collision Friday in the area surrounding Corning on Interstate 5. According to the California Highway Patrol, at least five vehicles were involved in the accident, including a white Chevrolet Suburban, a big rig, pickup towing a trailer and a Toyota Sienna minivan.
