According to news sources, two freight trains reportedly filled with corrosive chemicals collided near Sixth Street and I-10, leading to a serious hazmat cleanup effort in order to prevent re-closing the I-10 freeway. News sources reported that more than 40 workers at a Woodland cannery were hospitalized after a chemical used for processing tomatoes leaked into their work area. According to officials, the chemical leak happened around noon on Sunday at Pacific Coast Producers. Between 800 and 1,000 employees were evacuated from the plant and 43 workers were taken to nearby hospitals, including two employees that were severely affected by the chlorine dioxide gas.
