California Retailers Pull Recalled Taiwanese Products Without FDA

Media sources reported that, lacking guidance from the US government, several Bay area retailers have begun voluntarily pulling imported food products from Taiwan, after the country launched sweeping recalls of food products. The recalls involve 290 Taiwanese companies that purchased tainted ingredients from at least two manufacturers who substituted a chemical called di-ethyl hexyl phthalate (DEHP) for palm oil as a “clouding agent” in their products.
