Forever Cheese is expanding a previous recall issued for all units of Marte brand Ricotta salata cheeses. According to the official recall announcement, the recall was primarily issued because of a possible Listeria Monocytogenes contamination. The bacteria is known for causing fatal infections in young children and people with weak immune systems. The first recall was issued on September 14th and now an expansion has also been announced. In a press release, Vita Food Products, Inc, in cooperation with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), announced the recall of 8,088 individual retail packages of Vita Classic Premium Sliced Smoked Atlantic Nova Salmon due to the potential that they are contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
